Something Great's Residency Program at Schloss Mentin is a unique opportunity for artists and other art professionals working in theatre, dance, performance and interdisciplinary live art forms. As a resident, you will have complete freedom to organize your residency time, and there are no expected outputs (presentation, etc.).
Our residency program is open to local and international artists and art professionals. We encourage self-sufficient applicants who can handle logistical aspects of their residency, such as transportation, production, and movement in and out of the residency program. As there is no public transportation in Mentin, we highly recommend that residents have their own means of transportation. We aim to create an environment akin to welcoming our residents as trusted friends into our home. We expect our residents to be able to take care of themselves independently during their stay and to use the residency spaces with responsability and care.
RESIDENCY PERIODS
We are now open to receiving applications for residencies in the following periods:
- July to September 2023
- October to March 2024 (only available for writing residencies)
- April to September 2024
Wereceive applications continually, with no fixed deadlines for submitting your application.
Residencies can last for a minimum of one week up to a maximum of three weeks.

WHAT DO WE OFFER?
As a resident, we provide you with workspaces and accommodation free of charge. Depending on the availability of funding support for our residency program, we also cover (or contribute partially) your travel expenses and per diems and offer production/technical support. Unfortunately, at the moment, this is not the case. Instead, residents are charged a symbolic fee to help us cover the running costs associated with their residencies (electricity, cleaning, heating, etc.). If

- 35€* euros per day (for the entire group - maximum 3 people) to help us cover the costs of electricity, house heating, etc.
- 60€* for cleaning (for your arrival and after your departure)
- Caution to be agreed upon depending on the number of people using the residency spaces.

WORKSPACES/STUDIOS
Our two studios are housed in a repurposed former barn of Schloss Mentin with 500 square meters, filled with natural light and views of Schloss Mentin and its surrounding buildings. Each studio is between 170 and 220m2, with 8 meters in height and 4 meters of structural bars. The entire complex is accessible for freight and is protected by a security system, including an alarm connected to the police and video surveillance. Free WIFI is available.

Studio 1 (Dance, Theater, etc.)
One of our studios features a professional-grade sprung floor (170m2) with a black dance floor, making it ideal for rehearsals and artistic research processes in the fields of dance and theatre, but not limited to them. In addition, basic technical sound and video equipment can be available upon request.
Studio 2 (Multipurpose)
Our multipurpose studio is 220m2 of undivided space and is suitable for various purposes, including theory, sound, photography, and video. In addition, basic technical equipment (sound and video) can be available upon request.
Residency space for Writers, Producers, Curators, etc
Apart from its accommodation purposes, our current guest house can also be used as a quiet and secluded space that is perfect for artists, academics, curators, and producers looking for a concentrated and peaceful working/ writing residency opportunity in the countryside. The house has 3 bedrooms, working desks, Wi-Fi, a shared bathroom, and a fully equipped kitchen. Additionally, our guest house has its own courtyard garden where residents can relax. The guest house is located within the complex of Schloss Mentin, and it's 10m walk from the forest of Ruhner Berge.
