55
Fascinated by the way an artisan's movements are organized to serve production, in the solo 55 Radouan Mriziga uses his body as a tool to play with perspective and audience expectations. What is produced is a symbol from the past that takes on new meaning, causing us to contemplate our connection to symbols and their ability to transcend meaning over time.
“When I create, I begin by asking myself how I can be as functional as possible on stage. As a dancer, I'm continually questioning myself. Is this enough? Is this what I wish to portray? Is this the correct form? What exactly am I doing? What am I creating? What am I expressing? I'm searching for functionality, and the form that functionality may take. It's an almost architectural approach. I'm assessing myself as both a performer and a creator.” - Radouan Mriziga
