Samira Elagoz is a Finnish-Egyptian filmmaker and performance artist based between Berlin and Amsterdam. Previously identifying as a female artist, he spent years researching and filming cis men and first encounters with male strangers. Now identifying as transmasculine with a high-femme past, his work blends theatrical elements with film and documentary to create a unique style of docu-fiction. Centered on real-life encounters, his films—where he is always present—explore intimacy, masculinity, and the politics of the gaze from both external and personal perspectives. His internationally exhibited works earned him the Silver Lion Award at the 2022 La Biennale di Venezia, for his body of work as an artist.
