Seek Bromance The Egyptian-Finnish performance artist and filmmaker Samira Elagoz has devoted significant attention in recent works to exploring concepts of masculinity, encounters, and relationships. While earlier projects examined masculinity from an external perspective, Seek Bromance—a 220-minute performance film that premiered in 2021—turns the focus inward, following personal experiences and developments.

Seek Bromance tells an extraordinary love story at the end of the world, set somewhere between social media reality and sci-fi dystopia. Filmed during the COVID-19 pause and the first lockdown in the USA, the film follows the relationship of two people who meet at the beginning of the pandemic—both with a background in performing hyper-feminine characters, yet each with different ideas about masculinity. Through intimate footage, Elagoz and collaborator Cade Moga, a Brazilian artist, document the development of their relationship—from their first meeting to their separation.

Against the backdrop of a hauntingly beautiful, deserted world where it seems as if a virus has wiped out everything except them, the film tells a love story in which the two can only “infect” each other. With just a car, some cash, and a few belongings, Elagoz and Moga explore the complex dynamics of closeness, identity, and relationship—framed by the isolation and uncertainty of the time.
